Sing with Pianos
North side Music specializes in a full line of retail and restoration services. We have a full service shop featuring certified specialists restoring and replacing pianos actions, sound-boards, cases, digital and M.I.D.I. installations. This operation supports two retail stores, one in Lafayette, Indiana and the other in Kokomo, Indiana.
All new instruments include free delivery in the Midwest. We include a manufacturer’s quality control check-list, along with repeated tunings and follow up services with our sales. Deliveries are made on custom aluminum body, soft spring heated trucks manned by professionally trained Certified Piano & Organ moving specialists. Used instruments are offered in remanufactured, over-hauled, and native conditions. In the case of older electronic instruments with parts and design problems, we offer custom circuit and mechanical engineering. With player pianos, we offer marriage of antique cases with new piano frames, actions, or electronic interface as desired. Our shop specializes in custom work, so that we can efficiently produce these alternatives.
Some pianos, though, are restored more for the museum quality rather than music quality. Because pianos made before 1890 are of a lower technology, North side Music takes special interest in returning them to their “new” condition, and in getting customers to understand and anticipate the resulting differences with contemporary instruments. When they do accept older pianos, such as the 1790 piano they recently rebuilt for a family in Rhode Island, it is often for the antique and historical value.
